Fillings are different in eastern and western Japan
In eastern Japan, okowa is the most popular filling.
This is the traditional Chinese-style chimaki, with glutinous rice, shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and meat used as ingredients.
Nakachimaki is most similar to this type.
In comparison, odango is the most popular filling in western Japan. It is sweet with a light bamboo scent. Both types of chimaki are mouth-wateringly delicious.
Features of Nakachimaki
At Nakachimaki, we value three principles of wellness.
We want to achieve “wellness of mind” through delicious chimaki that will make you smile
“wellness of body” through something you can eat every day that reinvigorates the body
and “wellness of environment” through avoiding artificial ingredients and only using ingredients that are in line with nature.
From this concept was born our chimaki, which has the following features:
A flavor of nostalgia
Like mother’s cooking, it is made with flavors of comfort and nostalgia.
And by slightly adjusting the flavor according to the season and climate, the same chimaki delivers the taste that your heart desires most in that moment.
Japanese Soul Food
We have sought that deep umami flavor familiar to Japanese people, paying careful attention to the dashi ingredients.
Many of our repeat customers have told us, “Now this is soul food. I wish I could eat it every day
The fillings are large and chunky
Chimaki made with light dashi flavor, containing large and chunky fillings.
Just one is enough to satisfy you to the fullest.
Whether as a snack or as a meal, we wholly recommend it.
